The Government came with the noble notion of Project Samrakshane, which is a transparent system for payment of compensation to farmers under the Crop Insurance Schemes. It is a farmer-friendly scheme for enrolment, compensation calculation, and registering claims too. The government focuses on simplification and speeding up the disbursement of claims within a few weeks. Similarly, if we talk about Karnataka Samrakshane Portal registration, it can be considered a major breakthrough in an area where agriculture heavily depends upon rain. Portals like Samrakshane provide end-to-end e-governance solutions. National Informatics Centre in Karnataka State Unit has developed and successfully presented this e-governance solution which literally means ‘Protection’. It pertains to agriculture and horticulture development to manage crop insurance under Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) and Modified Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (MWBCIS).
