What is Chhatra Protsahan Yojana

The Chief Minister of Odisha has launched Chhatra Protsahan Yojana to help SC and ST students in their preparation for medical and engineering fields. Under the scheme, the government will try to nurture young and talented minds from an early age. To satisfy the purpose 7 centers of excellence have been provided in the schools run by the respective department. In the centers of excellence, free coaching will be provided.

Chhatra Protsahan Yojana Features 

• Chhatra Protsahan Yojana will focus on SC and ST students who are willing to clear medical and entrance examinations.
• The students will get selected on the basis of their standard 10th results.
• A selection test will also be conducted among the students after they pass matric.
• As of now 62 higher secondary schools are functional in 14 districts.
• Every year approximately 30000 ST and SC students write their matriculation examination.
• The scheme aims to aid those students who lack basic opportunities for coaching, as they live in tribal pockets.
• The department has signed MOUs with coaching centers.
• Selected ST/ SC students will get on-site medical and engineering coaching training in the Centers of Excellence.
• The scheme will encourage students from SC/STs to opt for medical and engineering disciplines.
